Permaculture design is an ethically based, whole-systems design approach to create sustainable human settlements and institutions. Although rooted in horticulture and agriculture, permaculture design also touches on regional planning, ecology, animal husbandry, technology, architecture and international development.
Over a 20-weeks, we created a sustainable Permaculture designs, culminating in a unique site design plan for Triangle Park in the BLT residential living complex.
During the course, we built a knowledge of the build site including but not limited to:
• Observation/analyzation of site/area’s natural processes
• Discussed and utilized design principles and methods
• Learned dynamics of water systems, soils, gardens and trees
• Learned about urban permaculture techniques and systems
• Applied an ethically based whole-system design
• Utilized concepts, principles, and methods derived from the ecosystem, indigenous peoples, and other time-tested practices
• Learned about regional planning, ecology, animal husbandry, appropriate technology, architecture, and international development
